SEVILLE — The happy couple, pictured moments after exchanging vows. They had travelled to the sun-baked south of Spain with no guests, no seating plan and no speeches — only each other, a photographer, and a city that has been marrying people off for the better part of a thousand years.

Seville beautifully embodies the scars of centuries past, and yet exudes a vibrant optimism that has evolved without ever fracturing, as if a metaphor for our convictions, family, life & love.

The calm after the storm of thrusting through the city in taxis and on foot like Big Trouble in Little Seville, with delicate floral arrangements precariously pinned to clothing, and nary a smudge to bullet proof makeup even when subjected to the elevated heat and perspiration, or the adrenaline rush of the occasion. You’d never know it from the beautifully composed photos.
